The Blink Of An Eye

It was a quiet Friday night. I entered the diner, the warm light giving me a sense of home. I smiled at Joana, the wavy-haired waitress, as I made my way to my usual booth at the farthest corner from the entrance. It did not have much air-conditioning yet had a clear view of the door and that's how I liked it. I settled in, removed my laptop and placed it onto the red table. Soon, Joana arrived with my usual milkshake, Strawberry with whipped cream and I gave her the same appreciative smile as always. This had become a daily routine. Sitting alone at home always gave way to my thoughts like the fizz contained in a carbonated drink so I worked here until I started feeling sleepy. All of it, the vibe, the warm yellow light, the red tables with cushioned chairs, Joana at the counter, the little bell ringing at the red door whenever it opened, had all become so familiar that I could comfortably spend an entire night here. Working on a research paper, I realized that the diner was comp

An Addict.

She was addicted to the thought process which leads a person to constantly overthink every situation and criticise it to its finest bits. The worst part was she destroyed everything herself by scrutinising the details to the finest and nobody could understand why she did that. Everybody around her thought she was the trouble maker but little did they know about her mental state because it was all in her head and nobody ever bothered to delve that deep. Addicted to the thought process, she over analysed every aspect of every word and every circumstance ever thrown at her. A simple "Okay" could be deciphered in so many different ways by her that a common person might label her mad. A gesture like a mere nod was deprecating for her because she thought people nodded only when they did not want to talk. Maybe they thought she was bad company? She definitely shouldn't have said that. Were they angry at her? Or did they just hate her? This habit led to her overthinking a

Independence, For What?

Diwali just passed by but how many of you took the Supreme Court orders seriously? I bet many did not because for one, neither did I. In Delhi, where I celebrated Diwali, I heard that orders were passed of bursting crackers only between a certain time limit of 6:30 pm to 9.30 pm. My family stepped out of the house and arranged a wide stock of crackers in a sequential manner but post bursting the 6th cracker, we had a huge lump of guilt in our throats. We packed the remaining crackers back, stashing them into the store room and settled in the living room with a pack of cards. Though, cracker-bursting went on till 1 in the night after which I lost track as I fell asleep. Did the orders make any difference? Yes, they did, at least for my family and for some more like us. But I do not really understand why their have to be orders and actions to make us realize that we are following the wrong custom? Are we so foolish and uneducated that we can't even realize what is wrong and what

Earth, a joke?

People in this world of today are so self centered. They seem to think that everything is wrong only with their life and others don't have a life or like the whole world rotates around them. They crave for all the attention while showing that they need none of it but seriously enjoying all of it too. Everybody have problems. It is not always about YOU. I can guarantee you that the 7.5 billion people, breathing on earth right now have only one word in their minds, ME. Our past needs to be enough for people to learn that wars are won and love is spread only by focusing on the welfare and love towards other people. The earth is already proceeding to devastate and if human beings don't learn to love each other, how will they learn to love the beauty in nature, respect each and every thing that God has created in the world. Trees and Animals that provide them with food are being wasted for what? For buildings? for money? What will one do when there will be no trees to produc

School Holidays

Everybody is happy when the school holidays  start but eventually, we end up getting bored at home. Often, we spend hours doing the same thing which is mostly, switching through the same apps on the phone. Instead of getting addicted to these applications and electronic devices, try out some of these interesting stuff that you can do during the holidays! 1. Organize a huge water fight with friends.   Tell them to bring all their water guns, invest in some of those water balloons and have fun playing with them in a garden. 2. Crash at friends house  Sometimes a change of scenery can make all the difference.  3. Organize movie marathon nights.   Pick a theme like the Terminator series and watch the whole lot in one sitting.  4.Grab a friend or two and go hiking.  Cycle to the beach  for an afternoon of swimming and tanning. You can even go skating. It's great exercise and fun. 5. Exchange Books If you're an avid reader, exchange favorite books with y
